I’d love to get one for a couch gaming pc, but for now The steam controller I just got Plus my current PC build will do just fine. If I was new to the pc landscape I’d try to get it.

My wife and I have been transitioning toward PC gaming but she likes sitting in bed or on the couch while gaming. We already love our Steamdecks but we may have to snag this for the living room at some point! It’s nice how pretty the console is compared to the awkward look of the PS5

I absolutely love the look of these, and really believe if we were not in the middle of RAMageddon that they would really shake up the market. Regardless, I do agree with your point about it setting the tone & level of expectations for the next generation of consoles. Will be interesting to see what Microsoft & Sony bring to the table, and how it lands with people.
I also have to give my appreciation to Valve for continuing to support the Steam Link. Those have received some nice QoL updates over the years, since it’s just big picture at the end of the day. I scooped up 2 of those years ago when they were just dumping the hardware for dirt cheap around the time they announced their app.
