What CRT Setup(s) Do Have?

I went kinda CRT crazy for a bit after picking up a curb set around the corner from my house. It was NOT good; an old 13" emerson that had an absolutely awful convergence issue. But it was enough to get me interested in using them for my retro systems. After that, another curb CRT came up around the corner, a 32" JVC (not D series, but close) that was much better! I got way into calibrating it in and accessing the service menu to dial it in as best i could. Then I decided I really want to flirt with both PVMs and RGB modding. So I emailed a local broadcast company and asked if they had any old PVMs they wanted to sell me, and I bought 3:

  • Sony PVM 8045q
  • Sony PVM 8042q crtdatabase com/crts/sony/sony-pvm-8042q
  • JVC TM-H1375SU crtdatabase com/crts/jvc/jvc-tm-h1375su (sorry, can only post 2 links for now)

The 8042q ended up having an issue with the v-sync pot, so I ordered a replacement from Malaysia and fixed it right up! I actually traded it to a friend for a broken MiSTer that I repaired as well :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

After that, I wasn’t satisfied and really wanted to use my skills to RGB mod a Trinitron. I found 2(!) Sony KV-32S42’s local-ish (I drove to get them both, but one was like 200 miles away), with the idea being that I would have one as a backup in case i botched the mod. If i didn’t botch it, I’d sell the spare after modding the second one! Which is what I did.

So now my current setup is:

  • 8045q sits on my desk with a MiSTer connected over RGB.
  • 13" JVC is in a little bonus room with a SSD-modded Phat PS2 on S-Video
  • 32" Trinitron in my office with all sorts of consoles around it in an old entertainment center i got at an estate sale ready to be hooked up at any given time for some guitar hero, Mario kart 64, or Wii bowling or whatever.

How about you?
