Summer Game Fest 2026

Anyone watch Summer Game Fest this year? There were so many great announcements and previews this year when you add in the State of Play from this week! I expect we’ll get some more cool announcements at the Xbox showcase and the rumored Nintendo Direct next week.

Did anyone have any titles in particular that interested them?

There were so many games that stood out this week, off the top of my head the coolest ones were:

Wolverine - self explanatory, an insomniac game with Wolverine sounds incredible after playing through the Spiderman games

Rayman - the game looks gorgeous and I always love a new co op game for my wife and I to play

God of War Laufey - another beautiful looking game, the story also looks very interesting. I’ve been putting off playing through the recent GoW games but I think I’ll play through those prior to this release!

Bancho the Chef - my wife is a chef and she loves the kitchen side of Dave the Diver, we’ll definitely be giving this game a go! I definitely agree with what BBK said on this weeks podcast about it having the vibe of an early 2000s game with all of the minigames in it

Stuntman Hollywood - I loved Stuntman when I was a kid, I remember renting it a few times from Blockbuster. I was really excited when I saw Brian’s Supra show up in the trailer, great movie references in the trailer and I’m sure the whole game is going to be packed with iconic scenes

Tomb Raider - I loved the last iteration of Tomb Raider games. I preferred the gritty version of Lara but I’m sure this is going to be great as well!

Stranger than Heaven - I LOVE the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series so this is definitely one of my most anticipated upcoming games! I don’t mind things being cheesy so I thoroughly enjoyed the surprise reveal of a character during today’s preview

Virtua Fighter Crossroads - I never played Virtua Fighter but this definitely caught my eye! I can’t tell if it’s going to be a traditional fighting game or if it’s going to be more of an open world brawler. If it’s the latter I will definitely give it a try!

Clutch - a racing game with a story sounds fun and the trailer showed what looks like could be a fun story! Having some of the creators of Forza Horizon working on this leads me to believe the driving is going to be incredible

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation - I’ve been wanting an FF7 remake for over 20 years. We were begging for it on Neoseeker way back in the day and its so cool to see the remake’s story coming to a conclusion! The graphics look beautiful, the gameplay looks exciting and I’m loving the new features they’ve shown so far!!

As for games I was hoping to see:

Elder Scrolls VI - I have no clue when this will ever happen but it’s been 8 years since we saw a reveal of where it will be.

Haunted Chocolatier - New game from the creator of Stardew Valley. I have full trust in Concerned Ape to develop another banger after Stardew smashed all expectations I had for it!

First Berserker Khazan sequel or expansion - this is a long shot after they reassigned the team to other projects but I love this game and additional story and gameplay are near the top of my gaming wishlist

Excited for Guild Wars 3! Set in the actual Guild Wars as a prequel - though I never finished all of GW2’s content.

A Platinum Games TMNT game is VERY exciting to me, as well.

lol @ the jello butt in Stellar Blade 2.

BUT

New Ueda game!! Very funny that the gameplay sections were like 15FPS.

PERSONA 6 WOOOO and persona 4 revival!! huge win for jrpg fans, love the vibe of p6 tho its just a teaser!

I’m currently playing Persona 3 Reloaded and I’m having so much fun with it, can’t wait till 4 revival releases so I can hop into that one after I beat 3

@eposvox I’ve never played any of the games made by Platinum games but I loved the Splintered Fate game you recommended in a video toward the end of last year so I may have to try another TMNT game!

Also haven’t played any of the Ueda games but I’ve heard nothing but praise for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus so I may have to finally give those a go!

The Stellar Blade game looked so fun but I just can’t get into the game because of the way they’re dressed. I know thats dumb but I laugh everytime I see the gooner aesthetic. My wife was laughing her ass off at the but jiggle physics when the cloak came off :joy:

@hazelnutclassic @SethMan53 I’ve never played a Persona game but I have P5 Royal and Metaphor (Thats kind of Persona isn’t it?) coming up soon on my list of games to play next. I’ve always loved the look of the towns that I’ve seen in the Persona games. My buddy said the P5 teaser was years before the release. The P6 trailer didn’t have a release date or any gameplay in the teaser, do you think this is gonna be another instance where it takes years to release?

An extended Fable gameplay video came out yesterday and that looks incredible. I love all of the in depth features like buying businesses, homes, making friends, changing your reputation, etc.

The Final Fantasy Resonance game shown at Nintendo Direct also looked amazing. I always love a good HD 2D game! Wish we could get a Pokemon game in that style!

I’m pretty new to the persona series I picked it up last black friday and its pretty fun I’m 70 hours into it now. And i haven’t seen much of fable but that sounds fun I’ll have to look into it. yeah that FF game looks fun too, I might check it out one day but I still have the 7 remake to play on my ps5 shelf lol. One JRPG at a time.

Super excited for the new Fable game. Fable 2 was an incredibly game for the time, and one that I feel has a bit of a cult following. Really, really impressive what you could do in the game for a 360-era Western RPG, but not really something that I feel a lot of people openly discuss due to it being, for the most part, just a bog standard RPG narrative with some jank to it. The new entry appears to capture the charm that Fable 2 had, with the amount of influence the player character has on the world around them— coupled with some modern polish. It’s been fun to see the Fable fans come out of the woodwork for this new release, and I think it’s going to make a much bigger splash culturally this time around with heavy system RPGs (looking at you KCD2 & Crimson Desert) being well received. Definitely one of the games I’m most hyped for.

Really excited for Persona 4 remake, I just started dabbling my toes into the original before they confirmed the remake and ultimately decided to just drop it then and wait. My friends that are much deeper into the series really love that one— might play 3 remake in the meantime to ease into it.

New FF7 remake is setting me up for a winter of Final Fantasy. I played the original earlier this year to sort of set myself up for it, and the 2nd entry just went on a hefty sale that I picked up. Probably going to end up on a INTERGRADE > REBIRTH > XIV: Evercold > REVELATION run.

Resonance looks neat, I’m stoked to see the Octopath art style make it’s way into the franchise. I heard this is sort of a rehashing of their shuttered mobile game though, so I’m a little hesitant. This might be one I keep on the back burner, wait for reviews and pick it up on sale. What I really hope, though, is that this sets the stage for some pixel remakes done more in this style. I would love nothing more then to see an FF6 remake done in like this.

Super excited for Guild Wars 3 as well, I have some friends that are really into the franchise and generally I always appreciated the gearing system despite never dipping my toes in myself. I’ll 100% be hoping on the train for this one, I think it’ll be super fun to be apart of a fresh MMO launch, and with how they treat gearing I know that no matter what that time I invest won’t be thrown away in another expacks time, regardless of if I return or not.

hey! yes I think it will take awhile, with my personal estimation being 2028. however, p5 suffered multiple delays due to it’s poor development environment and consistent directional changes. they are amazing games and i highly recommend them, despite the worry about long development cycles! and yes metaphor is similar to persona c:
