Spare parts build (a gift PC)

My kiddo has a best friend who has never owned a PC, but they all enjoy talking about PC games when they’re together so I decided to take some of the spare parts out of my garage to build them their first PC. It only cost me $9.99 for the PCIe power cable for the modular PSU (arrived after I took the photos).

AMD Ryzen 5500 CPU
16GB Flare X 3200 DDR4 RAM
256GB TeamGroup SATA3 M.2 Drive
NVIDIA GTX 1080 FE GPU
Corsair RM550x PSU
ASRock B550M Pro Motherboard
darkFlash DLM21 White Case
Generic HP 1080p Monitor
Dell Mouse/Keyboard

The 2 main games they talk about are Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. It’s so wild to see teenagers these days interested in a older game like TF2, it gives me hope for the future. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yo that’s not a bad rig! Very similar to my main machine, that being an R5 3600 and GTX Titan X Pascal. That’ll play plenty of games still, that 1080 has aged like fine wine! Lovely thing to do for them as well. No doubt they’ll remember this for a long time

That’s wild, TF2 was the game that got me to build my first system! Super solid system for both of those titles, especially when it’s a bunch of spare parts. White + Black setup looking clean as well, hope your kid’s friend is incredibly excited!

That’s awesome! Those were my first 2 PC games as well. It shows that both of them really are timeless classics and are still awesome games. They’re gonna make memories for life on that PC!
