I’ve had the parts for this for a WHILE and I’m only just getting around to futzing with it.
I have 3D printed a block to hold my Insta360 GO 2 action cam in the HotWheels ZOOM IN car (designed for a GoPro Hero Session box camera).
The mount works quite well, I have a goofy demo video here leveraging the 50FPS recording capability sampled down to 24FPS:
The thing I did NOT notice while two of these HotWheels bodies have been sitting in my drawer for years is: To accommodate the GoPro Hero Session body, they extend wider than the normal HotWheels car dimensions, to the extent that it doesn’t fit on any track piece that isn’t a straightaway. This is, well, a problem.
I have two options: Dremel off the sides so it stays within the bounds OR just take the top half of the body off entirely and just superglue an L-bracket (or something) to the bottom frame. Not sure which I’ll do yet, but having fun to poke around.
The GO 2 is tiny, but the image quality leaves a LOT to be desired, and only going up to 50FPS doesn’t give me much room to slow the footage down.
I had considered using my GoPro Hero 13 Black sideways for tons of slowmo and way better image quality, BUT as tiny and light as it is, it is still SIGNIFICANTLY heavier than the GO 2 and I think it would cause some problems.
