Help Resolving Dark, Blood Red Tint Over All HDMI Capture

I am having a major issue with my HDMI capture. I am getting a dark red color over any console that I plug in the AVerMedia GC5532G2 Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 when plugged into my M1 iMac (16GB RAM, USB 4 port).

I have tested multiple HDMI 2.1 cables, multiple USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 cables, and multiple capture cards (I had access to an Elgato 4K X). I have done testing on my M1 iMac, a M2 Ultra Mac Studio, a 2017 Intel MacBook Pro, and a 2017~ish Windows Dell laptop.

All produced the red tinge. I cannot get this red tint to go away. When using an Elgato HD 60 X capture card, the issue is gone, but then I cannot have/use/play with 4K120 or 1440p120 pass-thru. Also, the Switch 2 does not show up on the HD60 X when HDR is enabled. This feels like a separate, but related issue. Does anyone know of a solution or have an idea?

I have written a fully detailed blog post documenting my entire problem and troubleshooting journey if you’d like all the details. Here is a video of the issue and there are more embedded in the blog post. Please help me.

It appears that my “blood moon” red tint issue has disappeared. AVerMedia support suggested rolling back the capture card’s firmware to version 1.0.7.7 or 1.0.7.10 to see if the issue went away. After rolling back to both versions and updating back to the current version of 1.0.8.1, the gremlin haunting my capture has been evicted. You can read more and see screenshots here.

While I am relieved that the issue appears to be gone, I still have lingering doubt. We still do not know what caused the issue to begin with. I can’t be sure it won’t pop up again. Some factors have changed since it all started: The Switch 2 received a nondescript firmware update; I integrated the dbrand Killswitch 2 case and dock adapter; I found a more optimal cable flow in my capture setup.

My theory is that there was a major whiff of an EDID handshake that jacked up the USB-C video signal in the capture cards caused by the Nintendo Switch 2. This issue only appeared once it entered the setup, and for a time, disappeared when the dock was disconnected from The Apparatus™. I can’t know though and that is going to have to be enough for me.
