I’ll preface this post with a disclaimer that not all public libraries participate in all of these services, but they’re 100% if the do so it’s worth checking!
Always love visiting our local library, sweet people and it’s right next to the park I grew up playing basketball at so tons of great memories! My counties library system has movies and games that folks can check out, they’re always super grateful for movie/games donations!
Our local library is the same and they host a bunch of great community events such as movie nights, teen activities, and training sessions on a variety of topics.
Additionally, most libraries offer free/cheap printing services so you don’t even need to own a printer anymore! Win-win!
Love Libby! Switched from a Kindle to a Kobo e-reader and it can connect to it which has been awesome!
Libraries are the best. Ours has board games you can check out and I’ve heard of a few systems that have video games they loan.
Browsing the DVD stacks at the library are the closest I’ve gotten to browsing a Blockbuster in years and I’ve taken advantage of that and the CD collection to help build up my Jellyfin library.
Seconded on Libby and media checkouts. Especially if you’re going to pirate anyway, library still lets you get it (and rip it) for free while making a positive impact while you do it.
Libby is great. I’m not gonna read most books more than once, so it’s nice to be more intentional about what I buy whilst still being able to take advantage of the benefits of an eReader.
I haven’t used it in a while, but definitely like Hoopla for it’s access to digital comics, music, movies, and TV shows. I used it to read through Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
