With my birthday coming up in a few months, I was thinking about finally treating myself to a TV as I haven’t had one since I moved to using a PC for everything in 2021. Both of my monitors are 1080p lcds and was wondering if an OLED or 4k would be a bigger upgrade since I do not think I’d be able to afford a 4k oled. I plan on watching both movies/tv and playing games and understand there are major benefits for both of those. Just wanted to know what you guys’ thoughts were on this since its my first time really getting into this space
Erm, if you’re actually looking to buy a Television, you’re not choosing between 4K and OLED. Aside from the like ~2018 first-gen LG OLEDs, there aren’t any 1080p OLED Televisions.
For computer monitors there are plenty of 1440p and a handful of HD-spec OLEDs, but for TVs the market is entirely 4K.
As far as general displays/PC monitors go, OLED is far more impactful of an upgrade over 4K, but I’d still aim for 1440p, as HD in any sort of big size is kinda rough these days.
